Ditch the dry, fragmented textbooks for a cohesive journey that connects the dots between history, science, and the arts, one era at a time.

Hi, I’m Jen

I've been a homeschool mom for nearly a decade now, and I’ve always seen all of learning as beautifully interconnected. History shapes science. Literature reflects culture. Art captures ideas. Everything speaks to everything else. For years, I sought a curriculum that fit my vision of many subjects woven into one rich tapestry, but I never found it.

So I began building it.

The Kindled Mind grew from our own table: from living books, notebook pages, field trips, experiments, and long conversations. It is the curriculum I wished existed when I started.

If you’re looking for a thoughtful, structured, deeply connected approach to homeschooling…

Overview:

Journey with us with this full-year, 32 week curriculum, from the elegance of the Enlightenment and the Classical age through revolutions, industrial transformation, and the turbulent conflicts of the twentieth century. Students will trace Europe’s story from the Enlightenment and the French and Industrial Revolutions through the rise of modern nation-states, the upheaval of World War I and World War II, and the tensions of the Cold War.

Along the way, students explore the ideas, discoveries, and cultural movements that reshaped Europe and helped form the modern world—encountering the thinkers, artists, inventors, and leaders whose ideas still ripple through society today.

In keeping with the philosophy of The Kindled Mind, history is not studied in isolation. Each unit weaves together living books, literature, art, and science with hands-on exploration. Students engage with the material through science activities, creative projects and crafts, writing prompts and assignments, curated films and links, notebooking pages, and field trip ideas that help bring each era to life.

The result is not a fragmented list of facts, but a rich and interconnected story of how ideas, innovation, and human ambition shaped modern Europe.
