World History
Overview
Journey with us through this full-year, 32-week curriculum, from the ancient cities of Mesopotamia and the banks of the Nile through the golden ages of Greece and Rome, the rise of great empires across Asia and the Americas, and the medieval civilizations that carried the ancient world into the middle ages. Students will trace the story of humanity from its earliest written records through the age of exploration — encountering the civilizations, ideas, and discoveries that laid the foundations of the world we inhabit today.
Along the way, students explore the innovations, belief systems, mythology, and cultural achievements that shaped every corner of the globe. They will encounter the rulers, philosophers, artists, and builders whose legacies still echo through art, law, language, and science today.
In keeping with the philosophy of The Kindled Mind, history is not studied in isolation. Each unit weaves together living books, literature, art, and science with hands-on exploration. Students engage with the material through science activities, creative projects and crafts, writing prompts and assignments, curated films and links, notebooking pages, and field trip ideas that help bring each era to life.
The result is not a fragmented list of facts, but a rich and interconnected story of how the ancient world grew, fell, and gave rise to everything that followed.
